Anti-Shattering Film
A second layer of glass that's almost invisible and engineered to hold the pane together when everything else fails.
Explore the FilmFour steps, in order.
Every engagement starts with us walking the property. The spec comes after we've seen the glass, heard the brief, and understood how you actually use the space.
- 01
Walk-Through
We come out and look at every window. Takes an hour or two. We note the orientations, the threats, and how you actually live in the space.
- 02
Specification
We match a film to each window based on how it faces, what's behind it, and what you're trying to solve. Not the same film on every pane. Walk-through to firm quote is typically within one week.
- 03
Installation
Scheduling usually runs about two weeks from quote approval. Most jobs install in one to two days with a crew of one or two. After install there's a ninety-day glazing period while the film cures.
- 04
Warranty
The manufacturer warranty gets registered in your name. Lifetime for residential on most films, ten to fifteen years on commercial.
Born at The Auto Lab Florida.
Blackridge Film began inside The Auto Lab Florida at 500 N Dixie Highway in Hollywood. Architectural film is the same discipline as automotive glass, scaled to the size of a residence or superyacht.
The questions we answer on every walk-through.
- What is architectural window film, and how is it different from automotive tint?
- Architectural film is a multi-layer polyester laminate applied to flat glass in buildings. Security, solar, UV, frosted, and privacy variants. It uses different adhesives, thicknesses, and optics than automotive tint and is engineered to sit on a pane for the life of the window rather than a few years. We install only architectural grades.
- Do you service my area in South Florida?
- We work across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach. The full South Florida corridor. That includes Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Brickell, Sunny Isles, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Jupiter, West Palm Beach, and 50+ other cities across the three counties. If your property is in South Florida, the site walk is complimentary.
- How much does window film cost in South Florida?
- Projects typically run $12–$35 per square foot of glass installed, depending on the film specification, pane count, access, and building constraints. Yacht and high-rise work is priced on survey. Every quote is custom because every window is specified individually. We walk the property first, then price the glass you actually have.
- Is security film the same as hurricane film or anti-shatter film?
- Yes. The terms are used interchangeably for the same multi-ply laminate that holds glass in the frame during impact, forced entry, or storm debris. We install two thicknesses: a 14-mil interior standard for the highest break-strength performance, and an 8-mil exterior grade for panes where only outside installation is possible. Select film-and-attachment systems we install carry Miami-Dade County NOAs.
- Will window film void my impact window warranty?
- In nearly every case, no. The films we install are engineered to be compatible with laminated impact glazing. If your glazing is under an active manufacturer warranty, we confirm compatibility in writing with that manufacturer before any work starts.
